Dear Students,
Applications for ÖzÜ Nuremberg Moot Court Team Are Now Open!
We are thrilled to announce that applications for the Ozyegin University team participating in the prestigious Nuremberg Moot Court competition are now open!
The Nuremberg Moot Court is an international competition in the field of criminal law, aiming to enhance law students' knowledge and skills in this area. Participants have the opportunity to assume the roles of prosecutor or defense counsel, prepare written memorandums, and attend the oral hearings held in Nuremberg.
We invite law students who wish to join the Nuremberg Moot Court team for the 2025-2026 academic year to complete the application form provided in the poster above. Applicants whose submissions are positively evaluated will be invited to an interview, and successful candidates will earn their place on the team.
3rd and 4th year law students and students enrolled in postgraduate law programs can apply to join the team. Candidates are also required to have successfully completed the courses General Provisions of Criminal Law I and II, as well as General Public International Law.
The competition consists of a written phase in which the petitions for claim and defense will be submitted and an oral phase in which the litigation phase will take place. For the written phase, teams must have completed both petitions by April 7, 2025.
The oral phase of the competition will take place between July 23-26, 2025. Students who will participate in the team must still be affiliated with the University on these dates. Therefore, students who may be in graduation status will need to pay attention to this issue during their application.
The oral phase of the competition will take place in Nuremberg, Germany, with physical participation in the hall where the historic Nuremberg Trials were held. Each team member must take part in the oral pleadings.
Team members will be responsible for their own expenses such as visa, travel and food and beverages in case of participation in the oral phase.
The competition is in the field of International Criminal Law, therefore basic knowledge of international law and criminal law is required for team membership.
The language of the competition will be English, and the candidates' knowledge of English will be evaluated in the selection process for team membership.
