Emrah Özturan completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of Industrial Design at Anadolu University in 2010, and received his Master’s degree in Industrial Design Program at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2015. He worked as a product and communication designer from 2010 to 2012, followed by a research assistant position in the Department of Industrial Design at ITU, from 2012 to 2022. In 2024, he received his Ph.D. from the Industrial Design Program at ITU with the dissertation titled “Design and the Populist Agenda: The Mediation of Design under the Influence of National Populist Discourse in Türkiye”. He has been working as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Industrial Design at Özyeğin University since September 2022. His research interests primarily lie in Design Culture, Design History and Criticism, and Media and Visual Studies.
