Biography

Merve Çavuşoğlu received her B.A. (2008), M.A. (2014), and Ph.D. (2021) degrees in Psychology from Bursa Uludağ University. In her master’s thesis, supervised by Prof. Dr. H. Gürkan Tekman, she examined how autobiographical memories are influenced by cultural and societal changes in the context of migration. Her doctoral dissertation, supervised by Prof. Dr. M. Ersin Kuşdil, investigated the characteristics and functions of flashbulb memories within the framework of the ideological asymmetry hypothesis. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology, Bursa Uludağ University. Her research explores the individual and social dimensions of memory processes, with particular attention to their interaction with social identities, social norms, and ideological processes. Since 2025, she has been conducting her postdoctoral research at Özyeğin University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali İzzet Tekcan, focusing on the relationship between cultural life scripts and system justification theory.
