Özkan Akpınar obtained his BA degree in 2003 at Boğaziçi University, Department of History and his MA and PhD degrees in the Ataturk Institute for Modern Turkish History from Bogazici University in 2010 and 2020. Between 2012-2015 he taught History of Turkish Republic courses at Bogazici University. Since 2016 he teaches at Ozyegin University. His research interests are environmental and social history of the late Ottoman Empire.
