Our Gender Equality Plan
At Özyeğin University, we consider gender equality as a fundamental element of our governance approach and strive to strengthen this principle across all areas of our institution. We believe that an equitable, inclusive, and supportive academic environment can only be achieved through long-term strategies and concrete actions.
In line with this vision, we established our strategic framework for gender equality in 2017 with the launch of the Gender Equality Plan (GEP). Developed following a self-assessment process conducted within the scope of the Horizon 2020 PLOTINA Project, this plan became the university’s first comprehensive roadmap for gender equality.
The second version (GEP v2), updated and published in 2024, was developed by incorporating insights gained from the implementation of the first plan and considering evolving social dynamics. With GEP v2:
- Gender equality goals were made more systematic and measurable.
- Students were more actively included in the process, ensuring a more inclusive university-wide approach.
- Data-driven monitoring mechanisms were enhanced, with annual reports introduced to track progress.
- Gender equality policies were expanded to cover not only academic and administrative units but also the university’s external stakeholders.
To regularly monitor these developments and assess the impact of implemented actions, we publish Gender Equality Reports (GER). These reports serve as an essential tool for transparently tracking progress in gender equality at the university, ensuring a continuous improvement process based on data.
